Jeep Wrangler Matte Black Wraps in Tampa, FL

Trail-rated matte black wraps for JK, JL and Rubicon — fender flares off, doors off, soft-top safe.

About Jeep Wrangler Matte Black Wrap

Matte black on a Wrangler is the most-requested Jeep build in our shop — and the easiest one to do badly. Wrangler ownership means doors off, top down, sand, surf, trail brush. A matte wrap installed the way most shops do a sedan wrap will look terrible inside a year. Here's how we install matte black specifically for Wrangler use.

The matte-black-on-Wrangler problem list

Matte polishes shiny wherever it's touched. Wranglers get touched everywhere: door handles, the tailgate grab, the windshield rail when you fold it, the body line you brace against to climb in. A matte Wrangler installed without panel removal AND without owner education looks like a half-shiny mess inside a year.

Beach owners add salt. Trail owners add sand and brush. Both attack matte film differently — salt at the cut edges, brush at the high points. We address both at install.

Wrangler-specific install: doors off, flares off, freedom-top tucks

We remove every door on every Wrangler wrap. The full inside-door cavity gets wrapped, the A-pillar tucks get wrapped, and the inner shut-line gets wrapped. When you take the doors off at Cocoa Beach next weekend, no unwrapped paint is visible.

Fender flares come off. Every Wrangler we've inspected from another shop has lift at the flare edge because they wrapped around an installed flare. We wrap the body underneath, then the flare separately, then reinstall — no edge to lift.

Freedom-top panels (JL hardtop): the front two panels come off for the install, the rear is wrapped on the vehicle with the rear glass masked. The header bow gets edge-relieved so the front panel doesn't scuff the wrap when it lifts off.

Salt, sand, Florida sun: the matte-survival edge-sealing pass

Every cut edge on a Wrangler matte wrap gets sealed with edge-sealant — at the rockers, at the flare line, at the door-bottom shut line, at the hood gap. That's what stops Gulf salt mist (Clearwater Beach, Honeymoon Island, St. Pete Beach Jeep crowd) from migrating under the film.

We use a UV-rated cast matte black with a 5-year color warranty. Calendared (economy) matte film fades to a streaky gray in Tampa sun inside 18 months — we don't install it on Wranglers at all.

Care guide we hand every matte Wrangler owner

Hand wash only with wrap-safe shampoo (we sell the one we recommend). No automatic brush washes — ever. Touchless automatic washes OK but not weekly. No wax, no polish — they fill matte texture and make it blotchy. Bug splatter cleaned within 24 hours with a wrap-safe spray (NOT gas-station bug remover). Sand rinsed off after every beach trip BEFORE it dries onto the film.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a matte black Wrangler go on the trail?
Yes. Trail brush will eventually scuff any wrap — that's true of paint too. The good news: single damaged panels can be re-wrapped without redoing the whole vehicle. We can spot-patch a fender or door if a trail trip leaves a deep scuff.
How long does a matte black Wrangler wrap last in Florida?
4–6 years on a daily-driven JL Wrangler with proper care. 6–8+ years for a garage-kept weekend Jeep. The matte film is what limits the lifespan — gloss/satin in the same conditions runs 5–8 years.
What does a matte black Wrangler wrap cost in Tampa?
Two-door JL: $3,500–$4,200. Four-door JL Unlimited: $4,200–$5,200. Add $300–$500 if the hardtop comes off separately, and $200–$400 if you want the fender flares wrapped in a contrasting satin.
Can you wrap the hood only as a heat-rejection partial?
Yes — matte black hood-only on a light-color Wrangler drops cabin temps modestly AND looks like a factory two-tone Rubicon trim. It's a $700–$900 install instead of a full wrap.
Will the wrap survive a roof rack mounting?
Yes — we install the wrap with the rack already removed, wrap the mount points and shut-lines, then the rack reinstalls over the wrapped surface. Pressure under the rack feet doesn't damage the film.

I recently had my new Ford Bronco Raptor done at Prime3Wraps and couldn’t be happier with the results. Jay and his team installed matte PPF, tinted the windows, and added windshield protection film — everything came out absolutely flawless. Their attention to detail and craftsmanship were incredible from start to finish. You can tell they truly care about the quality of their work and treat every vehicle like it’s their own. The matte PPF completely transformed the look of the Bronco, and the tint and protection film were installed perfectly with no imperfections. Jay and his team were professional, meticulous, and great to work with throughout the entire process. If you’re looking for high-end wrap, PPF, or tint work, I highly recommend Prime3Wraps.

Jay and team did a great job with a chrome delete on my car. They were prompt, fairly priced and took pride in their work. I highly recommend!

Outfitting a business fleet costs a lot so getting our plumbing vans wrapped right the first time was a big deal. The design they made is very professional and the vinyl feels super thick and safe. They finished the work so fast that we barely missed any jobs. I will absolutely use their services for the rest of our work vans very soon.
